i've been cheating on livejournal. I wanted something with more flexibility and better handling, so I loaded and built a wordpress site over on makeshiftdaisy. For some reason the lj-cross poster widget is completely broken, otherwise I would be cross-posting over here, but for now, until the bugs get ironed again, is-a-not gonna happen.

I will, I imagine, do single posts over here as well and will, eventually, I'm hopin', get the cross poster to work, until then I'll probably just drop a link-nudge over, which I know will drive everyone crazy, but!

I wanted a blog I could add photos to, and lj just doesn't have the zippy functionality. It feels all cumbersome and what not. I also kind of like having all of my entries stored somewhere I can get to them without anyone else's rules attached.

Anyway, so, yeah, the girl who never blogs now has 2 blogs. I'm crazy like 'dat.

There's a few posts up there now. I was testing and trying to see if I was amused by it and trying to get used to the wordpress platform, which kind of rocks my socks.

So yes. Visit me here and there and all will be well with the universe.

Business is finally picking up. My boss asked me to stay a bit later because of it, so that means more money for me! But, it was a long day... Haven't had an 8-hour day in a long time, so I'm exhausted.

After work I made a stop off at Home Depot. They have had a deal going this week where you bring in your old Christmas lights and they'll give you $3 off per string you trade in towards LED lights (5 strings maximum). So, tonight I got my first discount on new lights... Tomorrow, I shall get the rest of the lights! Unfortunately, I think I need to get about 2 or 4 more net lights... That'll bring me to 12 or 14 net lights total, plus 13 LED candles for the windows. Estimated total: $250. It's going on dad's Home Depot card, though.

Yeah, he gave me the card while he is out of town. He doesn't want any more than $200 on the card, so I may have to get some lights out of my own pocket...

BUT this year will have better lights with less energy!

Yes, that sounds pretty distracting. In fact, I would say if a driver making his way down the Strip was watching a DVD of Wall-E on a television screen that covered his entire windshield while simultaneously breaking up with his girlfriend via text message and solving a complex math problem on an abacus he would be only 76% as distracted as if he was watching the stripper-mobile wend its way through Sin City. Imagine seeing the Pope-mobile driving down the road, only the Pope was stripping in it. That's the level of distraction we're dealing with it.

not complaining about an episode of criminal minds that starts with random goff band covering 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' and then blammo, straight into an homage to The Crow, all cracked mirrors and trying to wash the makeup off.

oh, crazy vampire episodes ftw.

and really, no sign of Marilyn Manson in sight, yet. You writers are good.

Nick invited me to accompany him to see "Midsummer Night's Dream" at the new Wyly Theatre in Dallas. I am always grateful that this city has such an amazing arts community and anytime a friend wants to see a performance whether it be acting, viewing an unusual or edgy film, or watching a band play live, I'm an enthusiastic participant.

However after seeing tonight's rendition (and through *NO FAULT* of the actors, who were wonderful, creative and on a short leash) - I'm going to have to make a stipulation; if Kevin Moriarty is directing the show I'll pass. I'd rather sit at home and knit a noose to choke myself with and should that fail to render me void, then hopefully asphyxiate on my own rancid bile.

This man has managed to make mincemeat of two of my favorite productions. He directed the musical "TOMMY" last September and now this Shakespearean masterpiece. I can't forgive him for bringing his own personal propaganda and secret agenda to each of these works and removing (subsequently butchering) the original author's intention and credibility.

Been in such a lazy mood lately... I think it's because of the rainy weather.

Anyway, updates...

I finally got my room reserved for Dragon*Con '10. And where? At the Marriott Marquis, of course! Dad finally got his things together for the room. A little more expensive than last time, but nothing I cannot handle over time.

Work is slowly building again. Hours haven't increased as much as I hoped, but better than less than 25 hours a week. By Thanksgiving, I hope to have enough settled so that I may have enough for Christmas...

That's all I can think of for the moment... For those waiting on another D&D update, you will have to wait until after Thanksgiving. Karl has been busy with test studying, plus we are all preparing for a Stuart visit...

okay, i've heard enough people rant about how great last night was that i've decided to pay the whopping sum necessary to go see the pixies tonight. it appears to be sold out, however there are a veritable plethora of people selling tickets at face value on CL.

have any of you who went the prior two nights observed people selling tickets outside at sane prices or anything, thus saving me an annoying trip down to whereever for a dubious CL deal?

also, [info]msjen, i am totally sorry i flaked on buying yours for yesterday. my night got all screwy and i couldn't go. blek.

I have one extra ticket for Imogen Heap tonight. Doors 7p, show 8p. $50.

Sheila and Blau, I'm looking at you.

If you want it, reply. I'll have to pick up the tickets from the vendor at 7pm, but I'll be able to meet after that.

The show is sold out and I've been trying to get tickets all day from different people off of Craigslist, and I finally found a vendor that would get me a ticket for slightly more than the already excessive price. *argh*

The exclusive ND track “Under the Gun (Immune Response)” will be appearing on the “Electronic Saviors” compilation, due out on Metropolis Records in February.  All proceeds will go to the Foundation For Cancer Research And Wellness.  Assembled by the multi-talented Jim Semonik, himself a cancer survivor, it’s a 4-disc behemoth of awesomeness featuring EBM, industrial, noise, futurepop, synthpop, goth and so forth.

Evolution of a Gonzo:

This week is the 40th anniversary of the Sesamy Street TV show. A show made grade appropriate for teaching by teachers, that also managed NOT to be boring. Filled with puppets that look like the makers had to be on ten hits of acid to create them, it was also mainstream. I take comfort in this fact. It is evidence that no matter how hard they try to pretend it, teachers were not all pod people from planet boredom before they began teaching. They had lives, went to parties, and liked surreal things.

control.org - "degenerate"

So back in February I promised new material this year. I've been chipping at it through the year. There is no time like the last minute, but in fact there WILL be new control.org this year. I am currently collecting from guests and laying down vocals on a new control.org album. This will be completed this month and all going festively available in limited physical and digital formats as soon as reasonable. No polish and shine, minimal self-congratulatory social netwr0king, no whoring to aggregators and online distributors, just some love from me to you, unless you are convexhull, in which case, I hate you.

I will post clips in the coming weeks.

peace
